Using the date picker
Most controls show data over a specified date range (e.g. graphing energy costs from the beginning of the financial year, or browsing invoices received in the last three months). A date range is expressed as two (inclusive) values:
- From month
- To month
The default date range is used when a control is launched.
A date range may be:
- Fixed: both start and end months are specified calendar dates (e.g. May 2012 to August 2012 inclusive)
- Relative: both start and end months are set relative to the current month (e.g. from 6 months ago until now)
- Combined: Either the to or the from date is fixed while the other is relative (e.g. from June 2012 until last month inclusive).
On first opening, the default settings panel shows the date selector in a collapsed state with the current default range displayed as calendar dates (relative dates settings are converted as appropriate).
>> To specify a date range using the picker:
- Use the expander icon to show the full date picker
- Click on the cog icon to toggle between fixed and relative date settings
- For fixed dates use the calendar icon to select the required month
- For relative dates:
- Select the required time interval (Month, Quarter, Year)
- Select number of intervals to be included in the range (can be typed or selected from the drop down list)
Note: Negative interval numbers indicate historical offsets, while for future intervals the offset is indicated with a positive number. The current interval is always indicated as zero.
>> Check the 'Date Range' check box to enable date ranges to be changed in session.
