Connections Window
This is where all the physical grid data is assembled. Generators, the Grid, the underlying Demand Profile and Companies are all grouped together.
The Connections Window contains three main components:
- Connections Grid box
- Connections Generators box
- Connections Companies box
The Connections Grid Box
The Connections Grid Box is found at the top of the Connections Window and is used to specify the Grid-related details associated with the Connections Resource.
Connections Grid Box Fields
| Name | The name of the Connections Resource Instance. |
| Description | A free text field for supplementary details about the Connections Resource. |
| Grid | Specifies the Grid Resource associated with this Connections resource. Double clicking on this field opens the Grid Window for the specified Grid. |
Warning: The Demand Profile field in the Regions Window does NOT have any influence on the Demand at the Nodes during a Run - its purpose is to provide a list of Nodes to assign to Regions.
The Connections Generators Box
The Connections Generators Box is found on the left of the Connections Window and is used to specify the list of Generators attached to the Grid.
To add a Generator, click on any field in the box and press the <insert> key. A popup window with a drop down list for selecting valid generators will appear, highlight the required generator and press <Enter> to make selection, click OK to confirm or cancel to discard the selection.
Connections Generators Box fields
| Name | The name of the Generator attached to the Grid. Double clicking on this field causes the Generator Window for the selected Generator instance to open. |
| Version | Specifies the version of a particular Generator. Allows quick substitution of different versions of the same Generator Instance into a Run Definition without having to change any references made to the Generator Resource elsewhere in the setup. |
| Node | Displays the Generator's injection Node as entered through the Generator Window. Note that the Node field cannot be edited from this window. |
| Class | Specifies the class of Generator (Hydro System, Hydro Station, or Generic). Note that the Class field cannot be edited from this window. |
Connections Companies Box
The Connections Companies box is found on the right hand side of the Connections Window and is used to specify the Companies included in the Connection Resource.
Connections Companies Box Fields
| Name | Company name. Double clicking this field will bring up the Company Window for that particular Company. |
| Version | A Company version name or number. |
Note that it is not necessary to have Companies present in the Connections Window for a run to proceed.
